Lacrosse betting guide

Fast, physical and high-scoring, lacrosse is growing in North America and on the international stage.

Updated October 5, 2026

Lacrosse betting covers two main forms of the game. Field lacrosse is played outdoors, ten players a side, at college level in the United States and in professional field leagues. Box lacrosse is played indoors on a smaller surface with a tight shot clock, the format of the National Lacrosse League in North America.

The markets mirror other North American sports:

  • Moneyline, overtime included;
  • Spread, e.g. -2.5 goals for the favourite;
  • Total goals, which depends strongly on the format: box lacrosse games often produce more than twenty goals;
  • Quarter and half markets.

What matters: faceoffs are crucial, because a team that wins most of them controls possession; goalkeeper save percentage; the shot clock and pace; and in college lacrosse, the gap between programmes and the intensity of the spring championship.

Worked example: a favourite at -2.5 goals priced 1.95 implies 51.3 %. If its faceoff specialist is injured, possession shifts and the spread looks less attractive.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between field and box lacrosse?

Field lacrosse is played outdoors on a large pitch with ten players; box lacrosse is indoors, with fewer players, a smaller goal and a shorter shot clock.

Why do faceoffs matter for lacrosse betting?

Every goal is followed by a faceoff, so the team that wins them gets more possessions and more shots.
